Arriving with confidence: New video helps patients navigate arrival in Rochester

A new video follows a patient's journey from parking to clinical buildings, offering a reassuring preview of what to expect when parking in the West Parking Ramp.
Today, Mayo Clinic in Rochester's West Parking Ramp is more than just a place to park. It's the first step in many patients' care journeys.
Earlier this summer, the 2,000-stall West Parking Ramp transitioned to a mixed-use ramp serving both patients and staff and now features the latest parking guidance technology. Newly renovated elevator lobbies are staffed with team members from Parking and Transportation and General Services, ready to offer help and a warm welcome. As patients walk to their appointments, digital wayfinding maps show the route and estimated walk times, helping patients feel informed and confident.
To help capture this new arrival experience, Mayo Clinic recently released a new video that follows a patient's journey from parking to clinical buildings, offering a reassuring preview of what to expect when parking in the West Parking Ramp.
In the video, Tony Spaulding, administrator for Practice Operations in Rochester, is joined by Bob Webb, a longtime Mayo Clinic volunteer and patient, to walk viewers through the updated arrival process. They offer a friendly, firsthand look at how new tools, such as digital signage and parking guidance, are helping to reduce anxiety for patients and make the first step of a visit more confident.
"Coincidentally, it truly was Bob's first time parking in the West Ramp," Spaulding says. "Mayo teams worked for months to ensure this space was as positive as possible for our patients. It was rewarding to hear how earnestly surprised and impressed Bob was with the experience."
A new page on the Rochester Construction Updates website offers a one-stop location for updates on road closures, detours, parking, the new video, and more. The page was designed to ensure that critical arrival and departure updates reach patients in the mediums they prefer.
