Mayo Clinic is on TikTok

Mayo Clinic is expanding its reach on social media. Earlier this month, the Social Media Team began posting content on TikTok, the short-form video platform, which has become popular with younger audiences.

On the new channel, you'll find bite-sized health tips from Mayo physicians, behind-the-scenes videos, and slideshows sharing fun events around Mayo.

You can catch a short video showing how the Environmental Services Team meticulously cleans patient rooms or take a video tour of the hyperbaric chamber in Rochester.

"The Mayo Clinic social media team aims to deliver pertinent, timely and precise information across diverse age groups," says Joshua Cortez, Communications Department. "Each social media platform we use serves a distinct purpose, and TikTok, in particular, offers us a valuable avenue to engage with a younger audience."

You don't need to have a TikTok account to see Mayo Clinic’s content. Just bookmark the channel and visit often to see what’s new.

Furry and feathery visitors in Arizona

Some furry and feathered visitors have recently caught the attention of staff at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

Late last year, Melanie Flores, Nursing Administration, and Julia Mulroy, Cardiology, began brainstorming ideas to bring joy to staff on the Scottsdale campus. They settled on hummingbird feeders and installed three on the northwest patio near the staff cafeteria. Since then, the feeders have become a popular place for hummingbirds looking for a snack, resulting in great feedback from staff.

Visitors of a furrier kind caught the attention of Matt Albee, Security, in December when he noticed two baby javelinas wandering around the grounds. Since there was no mother or squadron in sight, Albee contacted the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center to report the orphaned javelinas. A crew from Southwest Wildlife captured the javelinas, which will remain at the center until they are big enough to be released back into the wild.

New Mayo Clinic Store in Menomonie

The big scissors and ribbon came out at Mayo Clinic Health System — Red Cedar in Menomonie, Wisconsin, earlier this month. Mayo colleagues and city leaders celebrated the grand opening of a new Mayo Clinic Store on the Menomonie campus.

The store is at 2409 Stout Road, Suite 1, across the parking lot from the previous location and in the same building as Mayo Clinic Eye Care.

The new location provides convenient access for patients to purchase durable medical equipment and supplies, including CPAP supplies that were offered at the previous store location.
